Polypropylene injection molding. The metal blade is manufactured in a progressive die. Quantity: 50,000 units. 2013.
Brief summary of the work done: The manufacturer of thread sealants for pipe connections decided to update the design of their housing,
which appeared somewhat outdated compared to competitors.
The task was to develop two boxes: for 50 and 25 meters, and to consider additional packaging for the cord. In other words, a product line was being formed. The client was offered design and functionality options in a "sharp-edged" style, which would distinctly set their product apart from others that generally had "softened" forms (large rounding radii).
The design of the boxes was approved, and it was decided to keep the thread packaging simple, using a standard blister with cylindrical niches.
Each box consists of three parts: a foldable case, a spool, and a blade. PP was chosen as the material for the boxes, as it may not match the appearance of ABS, but it allows for a product with better flow and higher plasticity, enabling it to be repeatedly bent (at the corresponding thin bridges).
