Technologies: multi-shot injection molding (overmolding)
Materials: ABS, TPE, PMMA, Silicone
Planned production volume: 50 000 units
Operating conditions: outdoor, IP67, from -30 to 60°C
My role: design engineer
Time spent on the project: 380 h.
Project duration: 17 mo.
The housing of the electronic device (findfisher). Two configurations (for two sensor connection options: detachable and non-detachable), differing primarily in the lower half-shells, which, in turn, vary in the cable entry location (achieved through interchangeable mold inserts in the injection mold)
Socket configuration
Cable gland configuration (right) and socket configuration (left)
The second component (black parts) is not molded separately. In the image, this is done for clarity to show what is under the overmolding

Summary of the work done: I developed a manufacturable device structure per mass production needs while preserving the pre-approved appearance
