Technologies: Vacuum casting, laser cutting, bending
Materials: RenCast FC52, steel, PMMA
Planned production volume: 100 units
Operating conditions: indoor, IP53
Protection against: spills of reagents/ disinfectants and UV radiation
My role: Design engineer, mechanical engineer.
Time spent on the project: 322 h.
Project duration: 8 mo.
The device consists of two parts: a base and a table. The table can tilt from 0 to 40 degrees, with intermediate locking every 8 degrees. The tilt adjustment is performed by simultaneously pressing a button and manually lifting the table. Inside the table, there is a board with 192 LEDs
What's this?
This device enhances accuracy and efficiency in PCR workflows by providing zoned illumination for sample wells. The illuminated slots help lab technicians quickly and precisely identify specific groups of wells, reducing errors during reagent addition or sample processing.
Key Features:
- Zoned Illumination: Different colors indicate specific reagents, sample types, or workflow stages.
- Sample Identification: Helps distinguish between various DNA templates or control samples.
- Process Guidance: Highlights wells that require action, such as reagent addition or readiness for amplification.
Brief summary of the work done: I developed a manufacturable device structure by converting the initial surface-based 3D model into a solid one, adapting it to small batch production requirements while preserving the overall appearance
